Ten Broeck Academy/Franklinville Jr.-Sr. High School
The Best of our Ability
Welcome back for another year at TBA-FCS! As a teacher and a coach I always liked to theme each year. The theme was our focus and message throughout the year or season. This year our theme will be to the best of our ability - A school without limits. The more I get to know the students, faculty, and community of Franklinville I realize the strengths of this great small town. We have a tight-knit community that knows and appreciates the value of hard work and working together. I want to develop a partnership that transcends the school walls. We will work together to take overcome limits and obstacles.
This is also part of the District’s vision for Franklinville CSD, to foster a culture of success. This year we will follow the frame work laid out by John Wooden, a NCAA two time Hall of fame basketball coach. John Wooden’s defined success as the “peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you are capable.” As we develop our character and abilities we will follow Wooden’s Pyramid of Success. These building blocks have been studied by teams, organizations, and corporations across the world. As we work to the best our ability each day we will incorporate these building blocks into our own personal character.
Some changes that have been made to our honor roll. We have eliminated the merit roll, and added a high honor roll. 85 percent and better is seen as achieving mastery by New York State and the by National Education Standards. Therefore, our Honor Roll will honor those who have achieved a mastery level grade point average of 85% - 89.99%. National honor society recognizes, among other criteria, students that hold a grade point average of 90 percent or higher. Therefore we will recognize any student with a grade point average of 90 or higher with High Honor Roll Status.
Know that we are all here for you. Please reach out to us if you need anything. I look forward to seeing you on opening day, at our concerts and productions, at our games and contests and around our school and community.
Yours in Education,
Mr. Robert Hirsch
