• Steps to coach at TBA:

    1. Create an account on the TEACH online System - Coaching License (Temporary / Professional)
      http://www.highered.nysed.gov/cert/teach/login.html ($50 each)
    2. Fingerprinting: Call Diane Fox in the business office or email her at dfox@tbafcs.org. (Must be approved by Athletic Director before the appointment is made)
    3. Certified in CPR/AED and First Aid: Talk with Reed Mitrowski to set this up. If he is not currently offering a class, he can direct to someone who may be holding one. (Must be approved by Athletic Director before the appointment is made)
    4. Take the following courses:
      1. School Violence Prevention: http://ideas.gstboces.org/training/online/save (2 hours, $23 online course) 
      2. Child Abuse Recognition: http://www.nysmandatedreporter.org (2 hours, free online course)
      3. DASA Training: http://www.caboces.org/iss/pro-dev/dasa (6 hours, CA BOCES and online, free to member districts) (Must be approved by Athletic Director before appointment is made)
      4. Concussion Course: http://www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports/training/index.html  (free online course)
    5. Updated Mandated Reporter: https://www.nysmandatedreporter.org/TrainingCourses.aspx 
    6. Start coaching classes. Call Mary Gilbert at BOCES 716-376-8227 for time and location of classes.
      1. Philosophy, Principles, and Organizaiton of Athletics Course: CABOCES or Online (45 hours, free to member districts)
      2. Health Sciences Applied to Coaching Course: CABOCES or Online (45 hours, free to member districts)
      3. Theory & Techniques of Coaching Course: CABOCES or Online (30 hours, free to member districts)
      4. Coaching Licenses (Temporary/Professional): TEACH Online System ($50 each)

    ALL STEPS MUST BE COMPLETED IN ORDER TO BE SENT TO THE BOARD OF EDUCATION FOR APPROVAL. 
    THIS INCLUDES BOTH PAID AND VOLUNTEER COACHES!
